Magliano Sabina

For planning a trip to Rome we would like to give you following information.

Please use public transport. Avoid rush-hours around 8 am. and 5 pm. Trains will start from Passo Corese / Fara Sabina every 15 min (9.06 – 9.21 – 9.36 a.s.o.)

You need a one-day-ticket for each person (called BIRG / price 6 €). Please buy it in Tabacchi, p. e. in Canneto. It’s valid for RegioTrain, Metro, Tram, Bus in Rome (see traffic-map overleaf).

Drive by car to Passo Corese and use free parking at park-and-ride (or around) at the country-side of the station. Use direct footpath to platforms and look for train in direction ‘Fiumicino/Aeroporto’. Don’t forget to use ticket-cancelling machine before entering train !!!

Use public transport at your own discretion or follow this example to Colosseo:

Line FR1 Fara Sabina > Tiburtina – change to Metro in direction Laurentina > 6 stops to Colosseo.

In the heart of the ancient Sabina, at the foot of the Mount Acuziano, in a mystic atmosphere of silence all over the village, stands the Abbey of Farfa. Approaching the Abbey, which is surrounded by fascinating verdant nature, you can feel the morning fresh air heated by a bright sun.

The Abbey of Farfa is a very fascinating place, full of peacefulness and simplicity, as simple as the Benedectine monks who live in its profound spiritual atmosphere. Their ordinary life is devoted to God and the Holy Virgin Mary.

In 1928 the Abbey was declared national monument for its architectural and artistic beauty. With its thousand-year history, through periods of splendour and decadence, destructions and renaissance, the Abbey has remained a cultural and spiritual centre thanks to the founders S. Lorenzo Siro (St.Lawrence Siro) and S.Tommaso da Moriana (St.Thomas from Moriana) and the Blessed Placido Riccardi and Ildefonso Schuster.

Several kings, emperors and Popes (the latest was Pope John Paul II, 19th May 1993) have visited the Abbey throughout the centuries.

Today thousands of visitors admire the cultural and artistic heritage, spending some time or even days in this peaceful place in order to rest their mind and soul. Refreshments and accommodation are provided.

Walking through the park and the gardens visitors can also admire the small old quaint village of Farfa, property of the “Filippo Cremonesi” founding, which includes the pretty houses and the workshops run by skilled craftsmen.

Tomato Bruschetta – Original Recipes

Tomato Bruschetta

Tomato bruschetta is well known around the world. Tomato bruschetta ia a very simple italian vegetable summer recipe.

To make a tasty bruschetta with chopped tomatoes on the top you’ll need few but good-quality ingredients: bread slices from a loaf (possibly without salt), ripe tomatoes, garlic cloves, extra vergin olive oil (we recommend Sabina DOP oil), salt and pepper and, if liked, some basil leaves.

Here’s the recipe of tomato bruschetta!

Ingredients:

• 4 slices Italian loaf (200 g – 7 oz) 2 fresh ripe tomatoes
• 2 garlic cloves
• 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil SabinaDOP
• Salt
• Basil leafs
